Community Savings reopens its doors to its flagship banking branch in Surrey
November 29, Vancouver / Unceded Territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations - Today, Community Savings a BC-based credit union is celebrating the reopening of its flagship banking branch in Surrey. Following extensive renovations, which include upgraded accessibility features for an inclusive branch experience, new spaces to offer expanded financial services, and a mural by a local artist to demonstrate community spirit, the branch located at 900-7380 King George Boulevard is set to welcome back all members.

Branch key features and renovation includes:
- Improved accessibility features like automatic doors and lowered teller wickets to enhance member experience
- New boardroom to open-up dedicated space for commercial lending capabilities
- Access to wealth management services with a licensed mutual fund expert
- A team of front-line staff that are dedicated personal bankers, offering tailored, one-on-one support to members
- An expansive 28-foot mural, created by the renowned artist, Jag Nagra to represent community spirit
Speaking on the inspiration behind the mural, Jag said “The mural behind the tellers desks, highlights the diverse range of people and their contributions to Surrey and Newton including students, elders, small business owners and labourers. This kind of multigenerational representation is so important—it ensures that members feel seen, valued, and represented.”

Coinciding with Community Savings’ 80-year anniversary in BC, the credit union is celebrating over 30 years of service in Surrey. The Surrey branch has played an active role in the community, from donating to the Surrey Food Bank for 3 years, being a lead sponsor of Surrey Pride since 2021 to actively engaging with Surrey Board of Trade and Newton BIA. The local branch has built strong, lasting relationships with over 4,500 members—from everyday residents to prominent organizations such as Surrey Food Bank, DiverseCity Community Resources Society, Surrey Pride Society and more—who value dedicated and tailored banking services. Support includes:
- Helping residents with homeownership through services like first-time home buyers’ grant and industry-leading mortgage rates
- Disbursing over $5.2 million to date in commercial lending to cannabis businesses, commercial and residential builders and more
